Camille Chat was fired from Racing 92 last week. Several players, including the iconic Henry Chavancy, spoke at a press conference this Wednesday, January 8.

Which shows that all clubs are affected by extra-sporting affairs. The latest one concerns Racing 92. The Parisian club parted ways with its hooker Camille Chat (29 years old) this Monday. The French international (33 caps) arrived drunk at a training session at the end of December, the day after a festive evening with his teammates. One event too many for the club, which had already called him to order for another extra-sporting story in 2023. Chat had arrived at Racing in 2013 and had accumulated 188 match sheets with the Ciel et Blanc.

“Thank you all for making these years an exceptional journey”, the player soberly commented on his social networks.

“I am sad that he is no longer with us”

At a press conference on Wednesday, January 8, some players were questioned about the departure of their former teammate. “Camille is a golden guy and an exceptional teammate. I saw him arrive in 2015 in team A. We grew up together and we created a sincere friendship and which will last a long time. I am sad that he is no longer with us but there you go, things have happened and the institution must remain the strongest. Cit is a sad event but we are all passing through”, assures Henry Chavancy, emblematic player of the club, in remarks relayed by Rugbyrama.

“It's a shame but I understand the club's position. I have already experienced this type of moment in my career. In this kind of story, there is no winner: the club loses and so does Camille. I am nevertheless certain that Camille will quickly find a new club and that he will be able to relaunch his career”, slips for his part, the manager Stuart Lancaster. One more affair in French rugby.

Operated for a pubalgia in mid-November, the English international fly-half of Racing 92 Owen Farrell has resumed training but will not play this weekend, declared Wednesday the coach of the Ile-de-France club Stuart Lancaster.
