Not called up for this gathering, Romain Saïss is replaced by Abdelkabir Abqar while Noussair Mazraoui will start at left back, as is his custom in selection.

Since their surprise elimination in the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations against South Africa (0-2), Walid Regragui's players remain on a positive dynamic with three victories in their last four matches and a draw, the last one by a very large score against Congo (6-0).

19:25 – Regragui: “The interest of the national team remains my priority”

While some of his executives such as Sofyan Amrabat, Youssef En-Nesyri or Azzedine Ounahi have respectively left Manchester United, FC Seville and Olympique de Marseille to join Fenerbahce (Amrabat and En-Nesyri) and Panathinaikos, Walid Regragui supported the choice of his players despite reviews: “What matters is that the players play regularly. They have found solutions. I want happy players, who have found their level again. I hope they will have playing time and continue to give to this selection. They have not joined very high level clubs, but they all play in good clubs. The main thing is that the transfer window problems are resolved". Before continuing: "In my choices, I take into consideration much more the players' fitness. The interest of the national team remains my priority".

In Group B of the CAN 2025 qualifiers, Morocco and Gabon face each other this Friday evening in a match that looks like a final. Although the Atlas Lions have already qualified for the competition as the host country, the Panthers are playing “big” at Agadir.

19:10 – A challenge despite everything

Already qualified for CAN 2025 as host country, Morocco is playing its qualifiers by approaching the matches with a real challenge, as coach Walid Regragui confirmed in a press conference: “These matches, against difficult opponents, offer us the opportunity to face different playing styles”. Indeed, these numerous matches on the program will allow us to build a squad, refine tactics with a view to the CAN, but also to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
