Catherine Chaillet died on Christmas Eve, December 23, at the age of 91. Beyond the first TF1 logo, she had also designed an animated series, Les Tifins. The short program, broadcast before the 1pm and 8pm news, between 1977 and 1982 on La Une, followed the adventures of the three letters of TF1.

Born in April 1943 in Paris, Catherine Chaillet's father was a famous architect and resistance fighter, Samuel Edmond Rosenheck. After studies at the École des Beaux-Arts and a first job in architecture, she branched out into the world of fashion thanks to a textile industrialist, Alain Lalonde, for whom she transformed a simple boutique into a concept store, the first of its kind, on Place des Victoires.
Her growing reputation in the 1960s brought her into rubbing shoulders with big names in the profession such as Paco Rabanne, Christianne Bailly and Emmanuel Khahn. Her career accelerated when Hermès commissioned her to create a bag, later named after her daughter's first name, Constance. Television then opened its doors to her. Catherine Chaillet first carried out sound and musical animation work for the third channel of ORTF and continued the adventure on La Une. She is also responsible for the first logos of the radio station Chérie FM and the Vivendi group.
Catherine Chaillet: a mother of a large family
A talented graphic designer, Catherine Chaillet was also a single mother of eight children. “I raised them alone and they lived completely with me, she confided in Les Dossiers De L'écran, in 1988. I didn't really choose it but I simply accepted it from the moment it was reality and it had to be faced. And then finally it wasn't sad at all. Çit really happens in joy.”
This large family will most likely meet up at her funeral at the beginning of the year. A final tribute will be paid to Catherine Chaillet on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. at the Protestant temple of the Oratoire du Louvre, in the first arrondissement of Paris.
