The Festoure chairlift in the SuperDévoluy resort broke down due to a mechanical problem on Tuesday, December 24.

Some 240 skiers, “all unharmed”, stuck on Tuesday on a chairlift at the Superdévoluy resort (Hautes-Alpes) following a “power failure” of its motors, are being evacuated using a helicopter, the departmental prefecture indicated.

Evacuation in progress

“An electrical failure of the motors makes it impossible to operate the Festoure chairlift at the Superdévoluy station”, the prefecture said in a press release. “The evacuation by helicopter of 240 skiers, all unharmed, is in progress”, it is added.
