Si les deux clubs français se sont imposés, mardi 10 décembre, l’attaquant et capitaine des Bleus a, lui, connu le meilleur et le moins bon avec le Real Madrid.

PSG reassured themselves by winning 3-0 on Tuesday in Salzburg their second Champions League match this season, on the 6th day where Real beat the unbeaten Bergamo 3-2, thanks in particular to a goal from Kylian Mbappé, who came off injured.

Brest, the other French club in the running on Tuesday, won 1-0 at home against Eindhoven and provisionally occupies fifth place in the league stage standings, directly qualifying for the round of 16, a few cables behind the leader, Liverpool, who won their sixth victory in six matches in Girona 1-0.

Two weeks after their defeat in Barcelona, Stade Brestois resumed their march forward in the Champions League by winning against PSV Eindhoven (1-0) in Guingamp. After being saved several times by Marco Bizot in the first half, Brest opened the scoring thanks to Julien Le Cardinal just before the break (43rd), before brilliantly resisting the Dutch assaults until the final whistle. The posts saved the Bretons twice, who recorded their 4th victory in six C1 matches.

Paris, Ramos and a big phew!

For PSG, it's a huge sigh of relief. Paris has once again won the Champions League. One of their attackers, Gonçalo Ramos, opened the scoring. And the reigning French champions are provisionally in 24th place in the standings, finally leaving the zone of potential eliminations for the knockout phase.

Ultra-dominant, the Parisians have not completely resolved their lack of efficiency, which has been screaming since the start of the season, but they are nevertheless giving themselves a breath of fresh air, while they were sinking dangerously into a period of crisis.

Nuno Mendes and Désiré Doué increased the score for Paris in the second half and Lucas Hernandez, who has been out for almost 7 months after tearing his cruciate ligaments in his knee, came into play for the first time this season.

Mbappé, 50th goal and “hamstring discomfort”

In a situation somewhat similar to that of Paris, Real Madrid, the holders of the title, fought to overcome Atalanta Bergamo, leader of Serie A and still unbeaten in C1 this season until Tuesday.

Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring in the 10th minute and scored his 50th goal in the Champions League, but the French striker had to come off after a muscle pain in the 35th minute. His coach Carlo Ancelotti wanted to be reassuring. “Mbappé is suffering from discomfort in his hamstrings. It doesn't seem serious, we'll see tomorrow (Wednesday). He couldn't sprint, it hurt a bit and we preferred to replace him”, explained the Madrid coach.

In this top-of-the-table duel, the other Merengue stars shone after the break, with Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham allowing Real to pull away when Charles de Ketelaere, from a penalty, and Ademola Lookman reduced the score, without managing to reverse the course of the match.

Liverpool leaders blunted, Mukiele and Olise scorers

Among the other European big names, Liverpool, blunted, narrowly won thanks to a penalty from Mohamed Salah against Girona (1-0) and remains the only team to have won all its C1 matches this season. Behind the English, Bayer Leverkusen's French defender, Nordi Mukiele, allowed the Germans to win at the end of the match against Inter (1-0) and thus steal second place in the standings from the Italians who fall to 4th place.

Aston Villa won with difficulty in Leipzig 3-2, but climbs onto the podium in third place. Bayern Munich did not hold back in Gelsenkirchen against the Ukrainians of Shakhtar Donetsk (5-1), thanks in particular to an assist and a goal from its French striker Michael Olise and thus enters the top eight in the standings.

The sixth day of the Champions League continues on Wednesday with the clash between Juventus and Manchester City who have only won one game in their last nine outings, all competitions combined. Dortmund, 7th, welcome Barça, 6th and Arsenal, dislodged from the provisional top eight places (10th), welcome Monaco who follow directly in the ranking (11th).
