More charges have been laid against an Ottawa teenager arrested last December and charged with terrorism-related offenses, including having conspired and agreed to commit the offense of murder.

The teenager was initially accused of having facilitated a terrorist activity by communicating instructional documents concerning an explosive substance and of having knowingly instructed, directly or indirectly, a person to engage in a terrorist activity against Jewish people. Charges relating to explosive charges were added a few days after the announcement of his arrest.

The Royal Gendarmerie of Canada (RCMP) indicated Friday that charges of conspiring and agreeing to commit the offense of murder for the benefit of, at the direction of or in association with a terrorist group have been laid against the 'teenager.

A charge of knowingly facilitating terrorist activity by making accessible and exchanging educational and propaganda materials is also added.

No details can be revealed about the accused teenager since he is a minor.

Furthermore, the RCMP announced that a second person, also a minor according to the authorities, had been arrested in connection with this case.

As a result of the same investigation, on February 15, 2024, a second young person, an accomplice of the first, was arrested and charged with terrorism-related criminal offenses in connection with terrorist activities and a terrorist group. A search warrant was then executed at a residence in the Ottawa area, we can read in a press release shared Friday.

This person is charged with unlawfully conspiring and agreeing to commit the offense of murder for the benefit of, at the direction of, or in association with a terrorist group.

She is also accused of knowingly facilitating terrorist activity by making accessible and exchanging educational materials and propaganda and for knowingly facilitating terrorist activity by seeking to acquire a prohibited firearm.
