Five defendants – including a woman – suspected of having participated in drug trafficking in Nîmes in 2024 appeared on Monday, December 16 before the Nîmes Criminal Court. The defense lawyers requested an extension and the case was adjourned to January 27, 2025. Three of the defendants were kept in pretrial detention, a fourth defendant was placed under judicial supervision and prohibited from appearing in the Gard. The representative of the prosecution had requested that the four incarcerated defendants remain in detention.
Some of the suspects live in the Vacquerolles district of Nîmes. A woman in her sixties who is said to be the “nanny” appeared free. “I have nothing to do with this story”, said this woman.
The gendarmes of the Nîmes company arrested the first suspect in August and then worked with the police officers of the narcotics squad of the Nîmes police station who were investigating this case and had set up surveillance. The gendarmes and police seized money, cocaine, cannabis, scales, mobile phones.
