From November 30 to January 5, the little Christmas train returns to crisscross the streets of Nîmes. Free and festive, it takes you to discover the illuminated streets, emblematic places and the magical atmosphere of the historic center.

Nîmes, a city sublimated by the holidays

The journey begins at the Plaza de las Arènes, under the watchful eye of the statue of the famous bullfighter Niméño II. But here, there is no bullfighting: the atmosphere is decidedly gentler. The little train sets sail for the Esplanade, where laughter and bursts of joy from the inflatable games fill the air. As we pass the karting track, everyone seems to choose their own pace, between the adrenaline of speed and the quiet charm of train travel.

Next stop: Boulevard Amiral-Courbet, with its restaurants and its Natural History Museum. On board, passengers hum along to the Christmas classics that accompany the ride. No doubt, Santa Claus would have approved the playlist. The train soon reaches Place Gabriel-Péri, where the Saint-Baudile Church proudly dominates the place. Then, head to the Coupole des Halles, where little elves are busy guiding latecomers in their hunt for the perfect gifts.

The journey continues gently along Boulevard Gambetta, before returning to the city centre via emblematic places: the Maison Carrée, a Roman jewel whose forecourt is illuminated for the occasion, and Boulevard Victor-Hugo, where bars and cafés shine under the garlands. In 25 minutes, the little train will make you rediscover Nîmes, transformed into a true jewel box of light.

Among the passengers, the Brunet family, who came from Montpellier, does not hide its enthusiasm: “The children love it! Between the music and the Christmas decorations, it's a really nice family moment.” For Léa, a 28-year-old from Nîmes, the little train is a pretty Proust madeleine: “When I was little, my parents already took me there. Today, I continue the tradition with my daughter. It's still just as magical even as a parent.”

Practical: the little train runs from Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with a break in between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.), then every day from December 21.
