Foie gras sold by Leclerc throughout France was recalled this Friday, December 13, because it could contain Listeria monocytogenes, the agent responsible for listeriosis.

A recall was launched this Friday, December 13, 2024, concerning a duck foie gras marketed nationwide. This recall follows the possible detection of Listeria monocytogenes, the bacteria responsible for listeriosis, according to Conso Recall.

The affected product is the “Bloc de foie gras de canard du Sud-Ouest” from the Delpeyrat brand. This foie gras, packaged in 540 g vacuum-packed packaging, was available on shelves on Thursday, December 12 before being immediately withdrawn. Its use-by date is March 16, 2025. Consumers can identify the product by the barcode (GTIN) 3067163647869 and the batch number H3410097.

Do not consume it

As in this type of situation, it is imperative not to consume the product. If you have already consumed it and symptoms such as fever, headache or body aches appear, it is advisable to consult a doctor, mentioning the consumption of the product, according to the recommendations of Consumer Reminder.

Pregnant women should be extra vigilant, as listeriosis can lead to serious complications, including neurological damage or risks to the fetus. Immunocompromised people and seniors are also particularly exposed. “Listeriosis is a serious disease with an incubation period of up to eight weeks”, recalls the government website.
