Couple missing in Tenerife: bodies of Laura and Marc burned on barbecue before being thrown into the sea ? The new police hypothesis

The mystery still surrounds the disappearance of the Belgian couple, Marc and Laura, on the Spanish island of Tenerife. While the investigation continues, the police put forward a new hypothesis.

On April 22, 2024, Laura Trappeniers, 66, and her husband Marc Olbrechts, 71, disappeared in Tenerife. The Belgian couple had been living on the Spanish island for several years, but just over eight months ago, they suddenly disappeared.

A few days later, Laura's body was found mutilated, with a plastic bag over her head, in the sea. As for Marc, he remains untraceable.

Barbecue Bodies ?

The Spanish police are directing their investigations towards three people: two Belgian men (a father and his son), as well as another Belgian also living in Tenerife. The profile of the latter has particularly attracted the attention of investigators, since he was allegedly filmed by video surveillance cameras in front of the property of the missing persons loading two garbage bags into the Renault Clio of Paul-Michael A., the suspected father.

According to the Flemish media outlet Het Laatste Nieuws, the police have a new hypothesis, which is macabre to say the least. Paul-Michael A. and his son Lucas are said to have murdered the couple, before placing the bodies on a barbecue and throwing them into the sea.

The defense lawyer completely refutes this hypothesis, even calling it “pure madness”. The police are taking this theory seriously after finding burn marks on Laura's body. “As if my clients would take the risk of grilling bodies on their terrace in the middle of a tourist area!”, said the lawyer for the father and his son.

The motive for the couple's murder ? The authorities are thinking of a financial dispute, reports the Belgian press. But here again, the defense refutes this idea. “Paul-Michael and Lucas had no conflict with the victims, and certainly not financial.”

The investigation continues in the hope of one day being able to shed light on this tragedy and define the exact circumstances of this affair.
