Several other measures
He added that these duties would be increased to 50% within a week. He also announced a ban on entry into the United States and a revocation of visas for Colombian officials, as well as financial and banking sanctions. These measures “are just the beginning”, Donald Trump warned.
A US official had previously said that Colombia had refused to allow two US military planes carrying immigrants expelled from the United States to land on Sunday. Colombian President Gustavo Petro condemned the use of military aircraft for the deportations.
“The United States cannot treat Colombian migrants as criminals,”, he wrote on the X network. He said Colombia would welcome the migrants if they were transported on civilian aircraft, demanding that they be treated with dignity and respect.
