Update: Following the publication of this article, Intermarché has finally spoken out on this matter. Quoted by next.ink< /em>, the company explains: “The site intermarche.fr was the victim of’ an attempted hack during the weekend of November 2 and 3. No data leaks were found following this attempt.

This would therefore be a communication error. On its X account, the Les Mousquetaires group also specifies: “Contrary to what may have been announced to some customers by mistake, no unauthorized third party was able to access the customers' personal data “.

In its email sent to some customers, Intermarché also claimed to have notified the CNIL. As for the account reset, this would only be a ’precautionary measure” to protect the accounts tested by the attackers.

Another major blow to cybersecurity in France. Intermarché customers have just received an email warning them of a cyberattack. Here is all the information we have at the moment.

What we know about this Intermarché hack

In its message, which our colleagues at next.ink were able to obtain, the supermarket chain immediately warns that the customer's account has been “accessed by an unauthorized third party”. She adds:

This person was able to access your personal data and could use it for fraud or to unlock your loyalty card, or even for identity theft. However, rest assured: your banking data is not affected. It is hosted on secure servers of our payment partners.

200% Deposit Bonus up to €3,000 180% First Deposit Bonus up to $20,000

Victims, if they are affected by fraud or identity theft, are invited to contact Intermarché customer service on 0 805 101 115 or by email.

The company also specifies that it has implemented a procedure to force users to change their password. From then on, access to the account is blocked until they have done so. The company claims to be taking ” all necessary actions to correct the security breach and strengthen our security “.

Finally, the National Commission for Information Technology and Civil Liberties (CNIL) of this incident, in accordance with legal obligations regarding the protection of personal data.

In any case, you should be extra vigilant if you are concerned, because you risk being the victim of phishing or identity theft attempts. If you have been the victim of a scam, you should file a complaint with the gendarmerie or the national police.

France, a prime target for cybercriminals

In any case, this case follows a massacre of data leaks in France. In recent weeks, very popular companies in France, such as Boulanger, Cultura, Truffaut, SFR, and Free, have been victims of these violations. For the latter, customers' IBANs were even stolen, which makes people fear the worst.

SaxX, an ethical hacker and cybersecurity specialist on X (formerly Twitter), points out: “I'm seeing more activity on certain cybercriminal groups/forums. It's as if some of them have really decided to target France.” He concludes: “But it is the citizen who suffers through these numerous cyberattacks”
