L’homme avait notamment dégradé le comptoir de la gare SNCF de Mende. Midi Libre – CELIAN GUIGNARD
A 40-year-old man was tried in his absence on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, for a series of crimes committed on Saturday, March 30, 2024.
It is 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 30, 2024, when the police are called to intervene at the Mende SNCF train station. Inside, a fairly drunk man – the tests will show a blood alcohol level of 0.73 mg per liter of exhaled air, or 1.46 g per liter of blood – attacks the furniture.
When the national police arrested him, the situation got worse. The forty-year-old insulted them and spat on one of them. The officers had turned on their miniature camera. Everything was recorded.

In his cell equipped with video surveillance cameras, he masturbated. The officers asked him to stop. In vain. When he was asked the question “why such actions ?”, he replied that he had “nothing else to do”. An offence for which he had already been convicted in 2005.
This Tuesday, February 4, 2025, the man was to answer for his actions before the Mende Criminal Court. However, at 2 p.m., the start time of the hearing, there was no defendant or lawyer to represent him. So he was judged in his absence.
On April 1, 2024, a psychiatric assessment was ordered. A document on which Valéry Morron, public prosecutor, was able to base his requisitions. “The day before, he was already in a cell for obvious public drunkenness, the magistrate first recalls. He never takes the help that is offered to him. His antisocial nature means that we have no control over him.”
The prosecution was then particularly heavy-handed in its requisitions. “I do not think, given his personality, that a probationary suspension is appropriate. This is why I am requesting a six-month prison sentence with a simple suspension, a five-year ban on staying in Lozère and his registration in the File of Perpetrators of Sexual or Violent Offenses (Fijais).”
Earlier, in the interest of two police officers, Mr Alain Dibandjo had requested a total of €1,000 in damages, as well as €500 under Article 475-1 of the Code of Procedure criminal.
For his entire body of work and by contradictory decision to be served, the court finally found the defendant guilty of all the facts with which he was charged. He was sentenced to a six-month suspended prison sentence, to the deprivation of his eligibility rights for one year, to a €100 fine, and to his registration on the Fijais. He will have to pay €1,500 to the officials, in accordance with the requests made by their lawyer. On the other hand, Valéry Morron was not followed up concerning the ban on staying in Lozère.
