It's sad news for the world of cinema. This Tuesday, January 21, 2025, the French learned of the death of Bertrand Blier at the age of 85. Famous for the film Les valseuses, shot in 1974, Buffet froid in 1979, or Tenue de soirée in 1986, the filmmaker black and crude humor, leaves behind three children.

Married for the first time when he was 20, Bertrand Blier had rebuilt his life with the actress Catherine Florin (Evening wear) his second wife, with whom he had a daughter, Béatrice, then a son, named Lé Léonard, with the actress Anouk Grinberg (61 years old), who was his partner in the 80s. Finally, he had a third child, a daughter, the fruit of his love with the actress Farida Rahouadj, also an actress and now aged 59.

Bertrand Blier leaves behind three children

The one who made Gérard Depardieu appear in The Valseuses, did not hesitate to confide in his relationship and collaborations with his father, Bernard Blier. For our colleagues at Figaro, he returned to the not always easy-going nature of his father: “He was often given this reputation. I prefer to say that he was hot-blooded. He was a guy you didn't want to mess with, he was easy to get on your nerves. But in his private life, he was sweet”, he recalled a few years ago.

Not afraid to reveal his feelings, Bertrand Blier didn't hesitate to confide in the love his father had given him. 

The director's confidences about his father

An intense paternal love as well as a love of cinema: “He was a fabulous man. A magnificent father. Besides, the title I had initially considered for my book was The Most Important Man in My Life. What is obvious: when you are the son of Bernard Blier, you have a father who takes up space”, he confided.

And if some criticized him a lot in view of his temperament, Anouk Grinberg's father had a completely different view of him. “He éwas very good. With me, he was fantastic. Because he was very happy to have a son, and because two things linked us: the love of books, which he was crazy about –his library was gigantic, it was where he lived –, and humor. He was a real comedian, a rare quality among fathers”. Some very nice confidences for the one who will unfortunately find his father figure again.
