A true figure of French television, Catherine Labordepresented the weather on TF1 for more than 30 years. On Tuesday, January 28, however, her sister announced sad news. The 73-year-old woman has “passed away peacefully” at her home in Île-d'Yeu, in Vendée.

The announcement of Catherine Laborde's death was a real shock for her close ones. Among them, her lifelong friend, Evelyne Dhéliat. She was attending the New Year’s greetings ceremony of the Minister of Ecology Agnès Pannier-Runacher, in the 5th arrondissement of Paris, when she learned the terrible news. “I came home quickly” she then confided to Paris Match.

During her career at TF1, Catherine Laborde éhad become a close friend of Evelyne Dhéliat. A relationship that had lasted despite her diagnosis of Lewy body dementia. “We saw each other, we had dinner together, with her husband Thomas. But in this disease, there are ups and downs. There are times when we called each other and others where we spoke more by SMS. Then it became more complicated…” the weather presenter recalled.

If the health of Gabrièle and Pia's mother had gradually degraded, Evelyne Dhéliat did not imagine that her friend would leave her so quickly. She explained: “I knew that çit was not going very well, but I still did not expect it to be so fast. Çdid a shock”.

In December 2018, Catherine Laborde revealed êbe reached of neurodegenerative disease. Despite the absence of curative treatment, Thomas Stern's wife had decided to embark on a real fight. “She was a fighter. Physically, she could give an appearance of fragility, she &was very small, but how strong she was in temperament” confided her friend.

For Evelyne Dhéliat, the former weather presenter was a model of resilience. “She didn't give up in the face of this difficult illness and I never saw her complain. She said, “I'm asking her to side, I continue to live’” she testified. A beautiful state of mind that well illustrated her strength of character.
