IN BRIEF

  • Jean-Luc Petitrenaud, c& eacute;famous gastronomic columnist, died on January 10 in Paris at the age of 74.
  • His children, Antonin and Louise, announced his death and thanked those who supported him.
  • The place of his burial remains uncertain, although he expressed his attachment to Barfleur.

It's a big name that leaves. On January 10, Jean-Luc Petitrenaud died in Paris at the age of 74. The food columnist, French radio and television host was known to the general public thanks to several of his shows. He notably presented Carte postale gourmande, on France 5. Then, on the same channel, he was the face of Petitrenaud's escapades, from 2006 to 2017. His collaboration with France 5 did not end very well. At the time, he had revealed in the columns of Télé Star that the fact that the show was ending was “not [his] doing.”If it ended for budgetary reasons, he had not been informed. He had learned the news from the production, and not from the channel.

It was his two children, Antonin and Louise, who shared the sad news of his death with AFP. In a brief statement, the food critic's eldest daughter and his little brother thanked “all those who loved him during all these years” and assured that he had finished his last days with his loved ones.

Where will Jean-Luc Petitrenaud be buried ?

After the time of contemplation will come the time of the funeral. Where will they take place ? Originally from Clermont-Ferrand, in Puy-de-Dôme, the one who was named a knight of the Legion of Honor by Jacques Chirac in 2004 then settled in Switzerland for a while.

In 2017, he was called by Sud Radio to strengthen its schedule as a host. Logically, for obvious reasons of practicality, he therefore had a pied-a-terre in the capital. But Jean-Luc Petitrenaud also had a residence in Barfleur, in the Cotentin. What place will his relatives choose as their final home ? For the moment, we do not know where Jean-Luc Petitrenaud will be buried.

The food columnist owned a house in the Cotentin

The relatives of the presenter of L'heure de partir have not yet communicated any information on this subject. One thing is certain, the man had a lot of affection for his vacation spot in Barfleur. In 2014, when he was decorated of the city medal, he said: “It was night on the Masse when I saw the city for the first time. I was immediately seized by the poetry, the freshness and the naivety of this port from where my search for a house to settle in with complete peace and quiet”.

Does this mean that he wanted to be buried near the place of his second home like the late Alain Delon ? Nothing less certain.
