Did Liam Payne really die from an accidental fall? Not so sure, if we are to believeThe Mirror. Indeed, it would seem that the Argentinian authorities have decided to indict several people from CasaSur Palermo, the hotel where the former One Direction member was staying. Esteban Grassi, the head receptionist, as well as Gilda Martin, the head of security, have been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the circumstances of Liam Payne's fall.
Along with them, three other people were indicted. Two other hotel employees, Braian Nahuel Paiz, 24, and Ezequiel David Pereyra, 21, were accused of drug trafficking, but also of selling drugs to the singer. Both face up to 15 years in prison. And finally, Roger Nores, a friend of Liam Payne, was accused of involuntary manslaughter. He had claimed to have left the hotel before his friend fell.

One of these calls was reportedly made by Esteban Grassi. The latter allegedly stated that one of the hotel guests had consumed “too many drugs and alcohol” and that he was “destroying the entire room“, before the line was cut off. On the second call, the same caller warned that the life of the guest concerned “could be in danger“, since the room had a balcony, and asked &to the operator to send someone “emergency“.
Earlier this month, TMZ aired a documentary that looked at the death of Liam Payne and his final hours. In the documentary, Roger Nores explained that his friend was “in good spirits and perfectly fine” the day he died. Shortly before the broadcast, Nores had stated that he “never gave up on Liam“ and that he “é had been to his hotel three times that day and [that he] had left 40 minutes before it [Liam Payne's fall] happened“.
Despite what Roger Nores said, it would seem that he was not telling the whole truth. Indeed, several employees, in their testimonies, explained that Liam Payne appeared to be in an unstable state shortly before his fall. A state confirmed by recordings of emergency calls made by Esteban Grassi.
During their investigation, Argentinian authorities viewed no less than 800 hours of CCTV footage and collected numerous witness statements. According to a prosecutors' report, it appears that Liam Payne was likely not fully conscious at the time of his fall. The absence of defensive or self-protective signs could also indicate that the singer was in a state of mental confusion at the time. Furthermore, a psychiatric report stated that it was unlikely that the singer jumped voluntarily.
