A great name has passed away. On Sunday, December 1st, Niels Arestrup died at the age of 75. Rewarded of three Césars for best supporting actor and a Crystal Globe for best actor, he leaves behind a rich cinematographic and theatrical legacy.

The actor's death was announced by his press officer to the Parisien. Information then confirmed by his wife, Isabelle Le Nouvel. “I have the extreme pain of announcing the death of my husband, the great actor Niels Arestrup, after a courageous battle against illness. He passed away surrounded by the love of his loved ones” she confided.

Niels Arestrup's funeral will take place at Paris

Four days after the death of Niels Arestrup, the date and location of his funeral have been revealed. While the actor of Baron Noir died at his home in Ville-d’Avray, in the Hauts-de-Seine, his funeral will take place at Paris.

Indeed, according to Actu Paris, the ceremony will take place in Saint-Roch church, an artists' parish located in the 1st arrondissement of Paris. It will take place on Tuesday, December 10, nine days after the artist's death. Niels Arestrup's relatives, and in particular his twins, born in 2012, are expected to attend.

The actor received many tributes after his death

After the announcement of Niels Arestrup's death, many personalities were keen to pay tribute to his immense career. Tahar Rahim thus “ evoked a rare privilege of being at [his] side for [his] first experience at the cinema”. A message completed by that of Émilie Dequenne, who wrote : “I've been thinking about you, about us since this morning”. A direct reference to the film À perdre la raison by Joachim Lafosse, in which the three actors shared the bill.

Patrick Bruel paid tribute to “a huge actor”. He added on Instagram: “Our meeting has made such a big impression on me. Thank you Niels for your perspective and your kindness”. Finally, the director Marie-Castille Mention-Schaar indicated à about Isabelle Le Nouvel's husband: “I kind of broke down (…) I had recently sent a message to Niels to ask him if I could submit the script for another film to him, and he had said yes”.
