The accused, Ludovic Bertin, had been on trial for two weeks for the murder and attempted rape of young Victorine Dartois in September 2020. This Friday, December 6, the accused was sentenced to life imprisonment, with a 20-year security period by the Isère Assize Court. Ludovic Bertin, arrested after a denunciation by his best friend, has decided to appeal his sentence, according to information from Dauphiné Libéré.

The convicted person was on trial for two cases. That in 2020 of Victorine, 18, where he is accused of having attempted to rape her, then of having strangled and drowned her, but also for the rape of “Vicky”, in 2018, a completely separate case. Although he already had about ten convictions on his criminal record, he is now also registered in the national database of perpetrators of sexual offences

He denies attempted rape

Victorine Dartois was a BTS communication student and had disappeared while walking home to her family in Villefontaine (Isère) after an afternoon shopping with friends. Her body was found in a stream and her jeans nearby.

The man had been found guilty of all the charges against him, including attempted rape, which he denies. He justified himself by talking about a “argument” and the disorders linked to his addiction to cocaine. The attorney general Françoise Benezech explained that Bertin was looking for a “prey to rape” and had followed a “carefully calculated scenario”.
