After Mark Zuckerberg and Sam Altman, Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, also spoke about the DeepSeek phenomenon during the presentation of his company's quarterly results. This Chinese startup, which launched a super-powerful AI that cost it less than ten million dollars, is definitely on everyone's mind.

Glorious words about DeepSeek

The executive had some pretty complimentary and positive words about his rival according to Bloomberg. He explained during the conference call: “DeepSeek has seen real innovations. Obviously, now that everything is commonplace, it will be widely used. »

That said, questions are being asked about the massive investments made by large American companies, while their rival from the Middle Kingdom has achieved significant results for much less money.

According to Satya Nadella, this movement is already underway: “We have been seeing significant efficiency gains in both training and inference for years now.”.

He concludes by discussing the future and the desire to monetize AI. Mentioning his partnership with OpenAI, he believes that it is not enough to release the best model, but also to generate profits: “If it's too expensive to serve, it's not good, right”?”

Meta stays the course

As a reminder, Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged “There are a number of new things they've done that we're still digesting.” So Meta plans to implement the “advances” soon. DeepSeek in its Llama model.

However, according to him, there is no question of changing the strategy followed by the tech giant in the longer term: “I still think that investing heavily in infrastructure spending will be a strategic advantage over time.” More information on this subject here.

For his part, Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, promised:

But most of all, we’re excited to continue executing on our research roadmap, and we believe that more computing power is more important than ever to help us achieve our mission. The world is going to want to use a LOT of AI, and will be really, really amazed by the next-generation models. I look forward to bringing you all of AGI and beyond.
