The men's decathlon was won by Norway's Markus Rooth. Julien Alfred won the 100m while Ryan Crouser won his third Olympic title.
The essentials
Makenson Gletty finished 12th overall in the decathlon won by by Norwegian Markus Rooth.
Among the evening results, Ryan Crouser won a third Olympic title in shot put, a historic performance. The French 4x400m did not manage to reach the podium in a crazy race won by the Dutch in the last few meters.
In the main event, Saint Lucia sprinter Julien Alfred became the fastest woman in the world with a first Olympic title in the 100m.

22:30 – The summary of the evening
The men's decathlon ended with Markus Rooth winning. Earlier in the evening, the Dutch team in the 4x400m was crowned ahead of the United States. American Sha'carri Richardson also won a silver medal. Her compatriot Melissa Jefferson completed the podium in the 100m, won by Saint Lucia sprinter Julien Alfred. This 100m was also marked by the absence of Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce who had withdrawn in the semi-final. In the shot put, the United States had more success with the title of Ryan Crouser, now a triple Olympic champion, while Joe Kovacs is still Olympic vice-champion. Jamaican Rajindra Campbell won a very nice bronze medal. In the women's triple jump, Thea LaFond dominated the final with 15 m 02.

Despite finals with French players, the French athletics team left this evening empty-handed without a medal. Ilionis Guillaume in the triple jump final and the 4×400 m relay did not manage to bring back a medal like Makenson Gletty, 12th in the decathlon.Leo Neugebauer will climb to the second step of the podium. Lindon Victor, originally from Grenada, will be on the third step for the decathlon.
22:01 – Makenson Gletty obtains a disappointing 12th place
8th in the 1500m in 4'35'58, Makenson Gletty finished this decathlon in twelfth place with 8309 points. The Frenchman who finished well yesterday finally dropped down the rankings.
21:55 – Niklas Kaul wins the 1500m
Niklas Kaul finished first in the 1500m. The German finished strong!
Markus Rooth will receive the gold medal in the men's decathlon! The Norwegian is Olympic champion with 8796 points.
21:50 – Last 1500 m for the decathlon!
The decathlon will end in a few minutes. All the decathletes will take on the final event, the 1500 m.
Thea LaFond with her 15.02 m became the Olympic triple jump champion. Shanieka Ricketts with her 14.87 m, Jasmine Moore with her 14.67 m completed the podium.
21:41 – Ilionis Guillaume eliminated from the triple jump final
After his 3 attempts Ilionis Guillaume was unable to compete in the rest of the final. His 13.78m were not enough.
21:34 – A real demonstration by Julien Alfred
Julien Alfred started very quickly. The sprinter from Saint Lucia pulverized this sprint that she dominated admirably.
Sha'carri Richardson and Melissa Jefferson are in silver and bronze with times of 10"87 and 10"92.
Julien Aflred is Olympic champion of the 100 m with a time of 10"72. A demonstration! It's the first Olympic title for Saint Lucia.
The women's 100m final will be underway shortly without Jamaican legend Fraser-Pryce.

When are the Olympic Games athletics events held?
Athletics will be held from Thursday 1st to Sunday 11th August.
Where the athletics events will take place ?
Athletics will take place at the Stade de France, in Saint-Denis for all events, the exception of the marathon, which will start from the Hôtel de Ville in Paris, and the 20-kilometer walk, which will start from the Pont d'Iéna.
The final selection of the list of athletes participating in the athletics events will be published on July 8, 2024 (May 14 for the marathon). However, some athletes have already achieved the Olympic minimums and are expected to be included in the list, which allows a maximum of three athletes per discipline. 50% of places will be allocated by the minimums, and 50% via the world ranking.
