Remco Evenepoel won the first time trial of this Tour de France 2024 this Friday but Tadej Pogacar only lost 12 seconds in the general classification and retains the yellow jersey.

Evenepoel enforces the hierarchy and wins the time trial. It is the record holder for stage victories in the Tour de France who launches the hostilities. Mark Cavendish starts and sets the tone. Very quickly the Briton is overtaken by the Frenchman Lenny Martinez who has set a good time. But the specialists of the event will gradually return to the competition. The Frenchman Kévin Vauquelin will send a strong signal by completing a sublime time trial. He is the first to break the 30-minute barrier. Behind Kung seems to be able to dislodge him but the Swiss champion goes off the rails and loses precious seconds on the Frenchman's time trial. The latter is finally beaten by a few hundredths by the Belgian Victor Campenaerts. The Lotto DStny rider still has this first place at the moment when the four ogres take the start. Roglic first dethrones the Belgian then it is finally Evenepoel who will keep this place for the benefit of Pogacar who will finish this time trial with 12″ behind the second in the general classification. Tadej Pogacar therefore limits the damage by only conceding twelve short seconds in the general classification against the world champion of the discipline.

17:40 – A scare for Evenepoel

The Belgian did not panic in the last kilometers of this time trial while he had a problem with his bike. In the end, everything was resolved quite quickly and he was able to get back into his rhythm before winning the 7th stage of the 2024 Tour de France. 

17:35 – The classification of the 7th stage of the Tour de France

Evenepoel is therefore ahead of Pogacar. Primoz Roglic completes the podium with 34" behind the world champion. Vingegaard ends up à fourth place while the Frenchman Kevin Vauquelin finished second. a very nice 6th place just behind Campenaerts. 

Tadej Pogacar finished with 12" behind Remco Evenepoel who signs the first victory of his career in a Tour de France.

Slovenian only has 6" behind Evenepoel. Victory is not yet decided in this time trial which keeps us in suspense until the end. 

Campenaerts must finally be left behind his place as leader in this 7th stage of the Tour de France 2024. The Slovenian finishes with 17" in advance. 

17:18 – Pogacar late!

The yellow jersey of the Tour de France 2024 is losing time overall and sees Remco Evenepoel return. In the second intermediate he loses 10" on the world champion. 

17:16 – Evenepoel insists!

23" lead for Evenepoel over Vingegaard in the second intermediate. The world time trial champion makes a strong impression in this 7th stage of the 2024 Tour de France. 

17:14 – 14" in advance for Vingegaard

What a feeling ! Jonas Vingegaard is 14" ahead of Roglic in the second intermediate. We're still waiting for Evenepoel and Roglic.
