A few weeks after the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics, YouTube released its statistics. And the least we can say is that they are impressive. In addition to hosting the official Olympic channel, Google’s platform also collaborated with the official broadcasters. And according to YouTube, during the Olympics, its users watched 40 billion minutes, or more than 650 million hours, of Olympic content.

1.1 million new subscribers for the Olympics

For comparison, during the Tokyo Olympics, YouTube recorded 200 million hours of viewing. YouTube also indicates that, during Paris 2024, Olympic content accumulated 12 billion views on the platform, and that 850 million unique users followed the Olympics on the platform. As for the Olympic channel, it gained 1.1 million new subscribers.

Over 180 million unique viewers streamed Olympic content into the living room during Paris 2024, with 1.9 billion views of Olympic content in the living room alone.”
