Do we live in a simulation ? For this researcher it is yes, and he proves it

The idea is not new – the subject also comes up regularly in philosophy, or more generally in culture, with films like The Matrix, to name just this one. What makes the subject complex is that proving or disproving it scientifically is practically impossible. About as much as proving the existence or not of a deity, or of an 'afterlife'.

As for the idea of a simulation, however, it is permissible to establish models, to explain certain observations – such as for example the exponential expansion of the universe, and the rather mysterious question of entropy. In other words, this idea that the more the universe advances in expansion, the more the energy it contains is supposed to diffuse, leading locally to less and less energy. #8217;available energy.

And if the entropy of information was the key?

And in fine, what some scientists have theorized under the term “thermal death of& #8217;universe”. Once again this is not a certainty, but a theory that it is permissible to falsify. or extend as the scientific method dictates. And this is precisely what a certain Melvin Volpson undertook… a researcher known for having theorized the idea of a “second law of ‘infodynamics'”, a portmanteau modeled on the “second law of thermodynamics”.

According to the researcher, while the second law of thermodynamics governs how entropy never decreases with time, that which governs information such as for example the spin of particles , differs on this point – whereas the two types of entropy should in theory align. According to his research, the entropy of information remains constant, when it does not decrease to a minimum value, which seems particularly disturbing.

To get around this problem, the researcher theorizes the idea of an elusive “fifth state of matter“. Melvin Vopson thinks that taken as a whole, and to match observations, the total entropy of the universe must necessarily remain constant. Which is so strange, that only one conclusion emerges according to him: we live in a simulation. So of course before getting excited, you have to keep reason.

Independent research is essential to verify each of Melvin Volpson's assertions. The researcher's angle, however, seems particularly clever for exploring the question – or even others, which are more abstractly connected to this type of research, notably the behavior of particles at the quantum level.

  • A researcher interested in entropy explains in his latest publication that he believes he has proof that we live in a simulation.
  • His very interesting reasoning points to the strange behavior of entropy in the universe, depending on whether we are talking about energy or information.
  • Beyond an elusive 5th state of matter necessary to reconcile this reality, he conjectures that the total entropy of matter 8217;universe remains strangely constant, proof that something is wrong with the reality in which we live.
