For a few days, Doctolib notifies its users to be able to exploit their data. An initiative which aims to “ support the research and development of innovative products “. In reality, it is about training the company's artificial intelligence (AI) models.

Anonymized data to fuel Doctolib's efforts in the 'IA

« In order to create solutions even better adapted to your needs and those of your practitioners, we wish to use and anonymize your data  », writes the French application. This concerns, among other things, the profile, appointment history, teleconsultation durations, medical notes or even voice recordings.

« We ensure that we obtain the free and informed consent of users before using some of their data to train our models. Unlike other digital players, we offer our users the freedom to choose in complete transparency », a Doctolib spokesperson is keen to reassure. Last week, X was rapped on the knuckles by European regulators for having dragged Grok onto its users’ publications without their knowledge.

For its part, Doctolib is preparing to deploy two new tools powered by technology. The first is an assistant that will be able to automatically fill out a patient’s medical file by listening to and analyzing conversations. It is being tested with 360 doctors and should be launched in October.

The second, planned for 2025, will consist of a voice AI aimed at facilitating the making of appointments by telephone. It will even be able to detect the urgency of a situation from the patient’s tone of voice. Doctolib does not hide its ambitions: ” to become a reference for AI in Europe “. Because the platform is convinced, ” Health is one of the sectors that will benefit the most from AI in the coming years ,” argues its spokesperson.

You can disable the collection of your data

But to do so, you need access to a lot of data. The platform insists that the information used will be pseudonymized; there will be no way to connect it directly to the user concerned. Similarly, it is possible to simply refuse the proposal, which will not affect the user experience or access to the application in any way.

If you accept but wish to back out, this is also possible. In this case, simply go to your account and then your preferences. Click on “ Service Improvement “, then deactivate the option.

Other AI-powered technologies are in Doctolib’s good books. A “ prevention assistant ” will improve the monitoring of vaccinations, screenings and chronic diseases. A medical data codification tool will simplify the work of practitioners.
