For the second time in a few days, a double-decker bus hit a railway bridge near Glasgow (Scotland) on Thursday, December 19. The impact tore off the roof of the vehicle, and eight passengers were taken to hospital.
A road accident occurred this Thursday, December 19, 2024 near a railway bridge in Kilmarnock, south of Glasgow (Scotland). A double-decker bus, a double-decker vehicle, violently hit the structure, causing its roof to be torn off, according to information reported by Sky News and relayed by BFMTV. Several passengers were hospitalized.
The incident occurred shortly before 2 p.m., when the bus, which had left the bus station , was heading towards a suburb of the city. Emergency services quickly mobilised an ambulance and three specialist teams to the scene. Police said eight people were taken to hospital, but none suffered serious injuries.
Transport operator Stagecoach West Scotland confirmed the accident and said it was working closely with authorities as part of the investigation. Network Rail, the bridge's operator, said there had been no damage to the structure and that rail traffic had not been disrupted.
This accident recalls a similar event that occurred in Glasgow a few days before. Another double-decker bus had crashed into a railway bridge, injuring seven passengers, including a 60-year-old man, hospitalized in critical condition.
