Dragons – MHR: Arthur Vincent wants to “take a big bite out of the Challenge” before the trip to Wales

You are coming off a series of four very consistent matches. Are you satisfied with the team's progress? ?

It's a great satisfaction. It would have been even greater if we had had more victories. But in relation to our progress, what we work on, the weeks of training, the quality we can put into it… We have that feeling. We are really happy. We manage to turn in fairly clean copies, that's important. This desire to continue to progress, to work and to advance in our game is still there.

How do you explain that your game has changed so much since last season? ?

When you experience this kind of season, you want to move on very quickly, and you necessarily use it, individually or collectively. And there was this real desire on the part of the entire club, to move forward. But how to explain it ? It is a strong desire on the part of all the staff and all the players. And especially that it materializes more and more on the field. So it's good. There is a lot of work being done on the part of everyone. But we have to continue, because we haven't done anything at all.

Between us, we can be annoying too…

Do you like this image of a team that's annoying to play with ?

Yes, I think it's a bit of the club's identity. We have a front 8 today that is difficult, a team that is difficult. When we also train among ourselves, it can be difficult (laughs). So all the better, we are looking for that. This label, if we can have it for as long as possible, it means that we will be on the right track. In any case, we want it.

On Saturday, you didn't take a try in Bordeaux, against Pau, either. You do a lot of defensive work ?

We work a lot with Geoffrey Doumayrou (the coach in charge of defense) and all the members of the staff in the rucks, the transition with the attack… I think that it is the foundation of all the teams, a base. Little by little, we really built this strong and common foundation. It is what we need to have every week and every weekend. And it is what we find little by little. It was a great satisfaction against Bordeaux. Not conceding a try against such a team, it encourages, it gives a little more confidence too. It is also very positive for us.

I find sensations

You are starting a new competition in Challenge. Is it different from Top 14 ?

Yes, we are discovering another culture, another rugby. It goes faster, it hits harder. And especially for us, historically, each slightly complicated season that we have had, it has given us a breath of fresh air. It is part of the club's objectives to play it to the full. We have four big matches ahead of us, but in any case, we want to sink our teeth into it. It is also nice to get out of this routine, when we repeat the Top 14 every weekend… I think it is also good for everyone's mind to see something else, even if it is still rugby.

Personally, you have had two big injuries, how do you feel now? ?

There were two complicated years, one of transition. I try to find as many sensations as possible. I find more and more. I am also very happy to be part of this group. Everyone must be able to bring a little something extra to continue to grow and progress together. This year, it is really the case. I am not yet satisfied with my rugby or my performances, but there are good things despite everything. I want to continue to progress, to move forward. These injuries are far behind, but despite everything, it leaves its mark. I think that last year was very complicated collectively, but also individually in relation to that. The objective is necessarily to do better, it is clear in my head.

I subscribe to read the rest
