Fatal accident on the A709: the investigation is progressing

#MONTPELLIER Since the fatal accident that took place on Saturday 21 December on the A709 at exit no. 28 and which involved a vehicle from the Hérault gendarmerie, “all necessary investigative means have been deployed”, assures Laurent Fekkar, deputy public prosecutor.

A dozen investigators from the General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie (IGGN) are working there. A chase had begun after the Saint-Jean-de-Védas toll booth between a gendarmerie Alpine and a motorcycle driven by a 30-year-old man from Castres, without a license or insurance, accompanied by a 17-year-old girl from Saint-Just. The motorcycle had just been stopped at a speed of 139 km/h on a road limited to 90 km/h.

Laurent Fekkar specifies: “in light of the initial investigations and technical findings, the theory of a direct collision between the gendarmerie vehicle and the two victims' motorcycle is called into question”. The investigation continues.

Dramatic collision on the A9 on New Year's Eve

#GARDDramatic accident on Christmas Eve night on the A9. Shortly after 3am, in the direction of Nîmes-Montpellier, two cars and a heavy goods vehicle collided at high speed near Milhaud. There were seven victims.

A 35-year-old woman, thrown from her vehicle and hit, died; three members of the same family from the other vehicle, men aged 17, 22 and 41, were injured; the 30-year-old driver of the truck was treated on the scene and also taken to hospital; two witnesses to the accident, involved and shocked, a 37-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman, also had to be taken care of. The gendarmerie has opened an investigation.

Love is in the meadow here

Found Dead on Christmas Morning

#SETEFirefighters were called around 8:30 a.m. for smoke coming out of the second floor of a residence located on Boulevard Chevalier-de-Clerville. They attacked the fire from the outside veranda, via the tall ladder, as well as through the front door.

Once the fire was under control, they discovered the body of a man in his fifties in this particularly cluttered home. The victim was clearly affected by Diogenes syndrome. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the fire as well as the cause of death.
