Duranceau's new bill will limit evictions of all tenants

The Minister of Housing France-Élaine Duranceau has finally decided to take inspiration from Québec solidaire (QS) with a new bill aimed at protecting senior tenants. However, she decided to go even further by acting on the evictions of all tenants.

The minister has “made considerable progress”, declared the MP from QS Christine Labrie Tuesday morning on this subject.

A little earlier, representatives of QS and Minister Duranceau's office met to discuss it.

The Minister responsible for Housing is preparing to table a new bill “limiting tenants' right to evict and strengthening the protection of elderly tenants,” according to the parliamentary paper on Tuesday morning.

Technically, this new legislative document could be tabled in Parliament as early as Wednesday morning.

Recall that Québec solidaire had already tabled a bill (198 ) aimed at broadening the scope of the “Françoise David law” which prevents the eviction of seniors in certain situations.

In April, the Legault government was open to join in.
