Après le “danger grave et imminent”filed by the CGT union regarding the Lapeyronie emergencies, the “white plan” system was not triggered by the CHU but measures were put in place: reopening of downstream beds, provision of pediatric boxes, reinforcement of a nursing assistant duo…

Insufficient in the eyes of the FO union which wrote, this Friday, to the general director of the CHU. “After an initial alert in July 2024, we once again called on the management of the CHU, as well as the ARS and the labor inspectorate, about the catastrophic situation in the emergency department on January 3.”

“The overactivity over the past few weeks has put teams and organizations in great difficulty. The agents are disillusioned, losing sight of the meaning of their job. Endless negotiations with the hospitalization sectors to place embolized patients are draining an inconceivable amount of energy from emergency physicians who already have a constant flow to absorb without enough downstream beds.”

“The emergency room premises are no longer at all adapted to the volume of traffic and the demographics of the Montpellier area, with private sector partners who seem not to take their share of responsibility.”

“Alarming situation”

“The deadline for the future emergency room project in three years seems much too far away to imagine a real improvement in care.”

“This alarming situation prompts us to ask you to take extremely urgent measures to ensure safe care and to offer a working tool worthy of our teams and the prestige of the 4th hospital in France. A reflection must be implemented to streamline patient care and relieve congestion in the service.”

“It is regrettable that the public authorities and the ARS tirelessly continue to destroy our health system, always ordering bed closures and reorganizations that degrade the working conditions of staff, endangering the population. The FO union has been demanding for months the reopening of beds and caregiver-patient ratios for all sectors.”

“Joined in its local fight by the CGT, FO takes note of the efforts undertaken by our management but will not give up.”
