This is welcome help for the approximately 5.6 million households that benefit from it. Every year in April, low-income households receive an energy check worth between €48 and €277. For the 2025 edition, a major change will occur that could well prevent you from getting it back if you do not take the necessary steps. Here is what you need to know.
Moneyvox was able to consult a first version of the draft finance bill that reveals an unpleasant surprise. In concrete terms, the energy check was previously sent directly to eligible households. The government thus relied on the reference tax income and the housing tax. Except that the latter has been deleted.
The administration will now use the electricity delivery point of the home and cross-reference this information with the reference tax income of a household, which is still available.
In short, and if you are a former beneficiary of the energy check, it will still be sent to you automatically, provided of course that you still meet the conditions to receive it.
However, the same does not apply to potentially eligible people who have never received this aid in the past. We are thinking of students, or new entrants to working life. The latter will probably have to make a declaration at an official counter.

Quoted by our colleague, Françoise Thiebault, energy coordinator of the National Council of Secular Family Associations (CNAFAL), denounces: “We are moving away from the automation of the system that guaranteed a good rate of use. This solution will penalize new beneficiaries and those affected by digital illiteracy. » Note that according to a 2021 study, more than 15% of the population suffers from digital illiteracy in France.
