The three-time Olympic canoe-kayak champion, an officer of the Legion of Honour since 2013, was elevated to the rank of commander, as was the Paris police prefect Laurent Nunez, according to the decrees published in the Official Journal.
The artistic director of the ceremonies, Thierry Reboul, the artistic director Thomas Jolly and composer of the Olympic Games Victor Le Masne, author of the Parade anthem, were promoted to knights of the Legion of Honor.
The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, and the president of the Île-de-France region, Valérie Pécresse, were decorated with the rank of officer. Michel Cadot, former interministerial delegate to the Olympic Games, was awarded the rank of grand officer.
This promotion of the Legion of Honor, traditionally published on January 1, was delayed by several weeks due to the lack of a council of ministers to examine it in December. Traditionally, each year, another promotion takes place on the occasion of the National Day on July 14.
