Excessive speed and fly-tipping on the agenda of the general meeting

Le président Jean Guiu s’exprime devant les adhérents du comité

Le comité de quartier a réuni une quarantaine d’habitants pour le traditionnel exercice.

It was with warm thanks, his best wishes and those of the entire office team that the president of the Ventabren neighborhood committee, Jean Guiu, familiarly called Jeannot by all, welcomed the forty members who had braved the winter cold on this Sunday. Discreetly, Julien Plantier, first deputy mayor responsible for urban planning, settled in among the residents, loyal to this neighborhood that he particularly likes to live in.

After introducing the active members of the office, Fabienne Agniel, the vice-president, recalled the disappearance of three people from the neighborhood during the year, Josette Cartault, Mrs. Faucher and Daniel Garcia, and the health concerns of the president that keep him away, and require a strong mobilization of the team, to carry out all the scheduled activities, such as the children's carnival, the garage sale, the chestnut festival, the barbecues at the bowling alley every Wednesday, and the parcels for the elderly at the end of the year. “We are only volunteers, and that implies a certain availability. We tried to do our best to please everyone and to listen to everyone. This year, we made a donation to the Gard association Terre des Enfants”, she specifies, giving the floor to the treasurer who announces a balanced result.

The president, taking the floor again, wanted to clarify a misunderstanding regarding the sewer system, “The neighborhood committee has never been against it, except on plots of 1 ha and more in order to limit the construction of buildings.” Then, he invited everyone to express their concerns. The subjects are recurrent, such as illegal dumping of all kinds near bottle containers, excessive speed of vehicles. To answer them, a few solutions are put forward by the president, such as installing cameras, reducing the number of containers, or installing speed bumps. To all these questions, the first deputy admits the need to find solutions: “Currently, the recruitment of 31 police officers is underway until 2026, and the creation of a brigade specific to the environment, specialized in the search for the perpetrators of incivility.”

After many discussions, the president invited everyone to taste the traditional King's cake.
