Le comité “Pour le droit pour tous à un logement social décent" manifestait devant la préfecture, vendredi 24 janvier.

A person who has been an AESH (Aide aux élèves en situation de handicap) for twelve years, with three dependents, and who lives in private accommodation with a rent of €790 for a salary of €1,400, a 62-year-old disabled woman who lives with a student daughter, and who receives RSA (€700) and €300 of APL for a rent of €697 in the private sector… These are two Montpellier residents among many others who are asking in vain for social housing.

The committee “For the right for all to decent social housing” wrote to the prefect on December 17 to warn of this shortage.

This Friday, January 24, they asked him to requisition empty housing in the face of the shortage. A demonstration took place in front of the prefecturee to denounce “the decline in the creation of social housing, which went from 125,000 per year in 2017 to less than 80,000 in 2024”.
