This weekend, farmers will be visiting three large supermarkets to conduct "checks" and talk to customers.

Following the call from the National Federation of Milk Producers at the beginning of December, milk producers from the FDSEA and the Young Farmers of Aveyron will be visiting several large and medium-sized supermarkets in the department this weekend to “check the origins of dairy products”, they explain.

“Unacceptable situations”

“At a time when Lactalis has reaffirmed that its withdrawal would not result in importing more milk, and while the EU is opening the door to imported products by signing an agreement – “historic” in its violence towards farmers – with Mercosur, it is important to go and check now what is happening on the shelves of large-scale distribution“, say the representatives of the two agricultural unions.

In their sights in particular: butter for its imported cream or Emmental for milk “of EU origin”, situations “unacceptable for the French dairy industry!. The standards met by French producers and the quality, particularly health quality, offered to consumers must be highlighted on all products food.”

“Talking with consumers”

To “maintain pressure on mass distribution” but also “talking with consumers”, milk producers will go to three large and medium-sized Aveyron supermarkets this Friday, September 27 to “conduct origin checks and explain that any incorporation of dairy ingredients in processed products that come from abroad will only result in an even greater withdrawal of French milk production.”
