Larzac, land of rave parties ?

#AVEYRON Should we expect more rave parties on the Larzac plateau in 2025 ? This is a question that was asked, after the arrival of several thousand people, between Hérault and Aveyron, to celebrate the New Year. Although made public at the last moment, the Aveyron prefecture had published a decree to ban this event on the same day. “This allows us to carry out a whole bunch of checks” details Véronique Martin-Saint-Léon, sub-prefect of the Millau district.

A security device had been deployed by the Aveyron gendarmes and although agitated in front of the musical installation, the party had not overflowed. The organizers risk up to six years of imprisonment and a fine of €10,000 maximum for organizing such parties. If everything went well during the last two parties organized on the fly on the Larzac, some events can be more problematic than others, especially when they invite themselves onto the land of private owners.

Crèches plombées

#MONTPELLIERAfter the closure of the Edelweiss nursery due to lead exposure risks, the Maison des enfants is experiencing the same problems. A public meeting was therefore held to inform parents who were encouraged to have blood lead tests carried out in order to remove any suspicion. And whose first returns are reassuring.

“I know that there was a lot of anxiety during the school holidays”, apologized Tasnime Akbaraly, assistant for early childhood. “The problems of lead poisoning are mainly linked to the ingestion of these lead paints. The risk by inhalation is much less significant”, indicated Jean-François Rioufol, director of the early childhood center.

SNCF strike renewed

#HERAULT The CGT Cheminots Béziers has renewed for this Wednesday, January 8, the strike that began Sunday, January 5. The strikers denounce “the lack of staff, drivers and controllers on the TER and intercity service on the Béziers-Neussargues line”.

“Line users need to know that train cancellations are a consequence of the lack of staff. Not to mention that users are often faced with the absence of a controller on the trains, which leads to a lack of information on their journey and connections” states a union official.

Today's figure: 7.5

#GARD This is, in kg, the weight of truffles stolen from a farm in Saint-Victor-des-Oules in December 2024. The owner estimates that the accused came at least five times, with a harvest of around 1.5 kg per night.

Using a well-established method, the individual cut through the fence and entered the land with his truffle dog. He was arrested and 4 kg of black diamonds were returned to the owner. He is summoned to court in May 2025.

Farmers support their own in Mayotte

HÉRAULT I still have butterflies in my stomach when I think back to everything I saw there”, admits the president of the Hérault Chamber of Agriculture, Jérôme Despey, who is in charge, among other things, of relations with Réunion and Mayotte within the FNSEA. FNSEA and JA have mobilized to release emergency aid to the 1,350 farms and 3,000 farmers on the island.

100 chainsaws have been sent so that farmers can clear the roads leading to their land. “Everything needs to be rebuilt and replanted because, beyond the economic emergency, there is also a vital emergency. Farmers need to be able to resume their production as quickly as possible.”
