Federal 3: Saint-Affricain rugby club seeks to confirm on its home turf against the Audois de Quillan

Les Saint Affricains devront une fois encore rehausser leur niveau de jeu MIDI LIBRE – M.DURAND

Les deux équipes veulent engranger des points avant la trêve lors du match qui aura lieu ce dimanche 8 décembre.

The hardest part remains to be done. RCSA has the obligation to confirm, at home, the very fine 27-23 victory in its last match against Rivesaltes, the leader. For its last match of the year before the winter break, the Saint Africains will face the players of US Quillan Limoux Haute Vallée de l’Aude. A club that plays at the top of the table and currently occupies 5th place in the general ranking.

A draw in the Aude in the first leg

Suffice to say that the task does not look easy for the southern Aveyron team who are second from last with RC Plaisance who have a game in hand. In the first leg and for the first match of the season, RCSA had gone to draw in the Aude. Despite conceding four tries, the Saint Africains had snatched a draw by scoring two tries at the end of the game through Balmefrezol and Vautrin.

A performance that they want to achieve this Sunday with this time a victory at stake. Johnathan Gien confirms it. “We want to finish the year well. We know that Quillan is strong. We need points. We are capable of doing good things even if for this match our squad will not be at full strength. We need to confirm the result of Rivesaltes.”

An opposition undoubtedly committed

The stakes are just as high for their opponents as indicated by Olivier Pech, the co-president of the Aude club. “This is a pivotal match and could be a turning point in the season for us. If we get a good result, we can claim the top four places for the rest of the season, otherwise it will be more difficult in the event of a defeat. We will need good intentions if we want to win… In the first leg, we were negligent against a team that has qualities and that doesn't give up.”

As for the victory against the leader St Affrique, the manager could not be more affirmative. “Saint Affrique put in a great performance against Rivesaltes. I prefer it! At least we know what to expect!” The quest for points should generate a committed opposition this Sunday at the municipal.
