Félix Lebrun – Fan Zhendong: no feat for the French prodigy who will still play for bronze!

Beaten in four short sets (8-11 6-11 7-11 5-11) by the Chinese Fan Zhendong, Félix Lebrun does not achieve the feat of beating the world number 4 and qualifying for the final of the 2024 Olympic Games. The French prodigy will play for the gold medal bronze against the Swede Moregard or the Brazilian Calderano.

Facing the Chinese and world number 4 Fan Zhendong, Félix Lebrun will not see the Olympic final. The Frenchman suffered the law of his opponent (8-11, 6-11, 7-11, 5-11) in about thirty minutes. Fan Zhendong is simply too strong for Félix Lebrun who gets annoyed after a forehand start that ends up in the net.

After an exchange in the middle of the table where the balls flew, Fan Zhendong sends a diagonal backhand slap that leaves Félix Lebrun literally on the spot.

Fan Zhendong is simply better than Félix Lebrun in the first three rounds. The Chinese does not make any mistakes while Félix Lebrun fails to make the difference. The French table tennis player will have to dig deep to beat the world number 4.

After his time-out, Félix Lebrun tries and varies but it doesn't work against the Chinese.

Since the start of the match, Fan Zhendong has had this ease in finding a very central zone on the table. F&eacutelix Lebrun is unable to to move to return the ball.

Félix Lebrun is no longer the same at the table. The Frenchman is much more offensive and pounds the Chinese on the backhand.

11:19 – Success (8-11 6-11 1-1)

Since the start of the match, Fan Zhendong has had success, as illustrated by this backhand pass that hits the net.

On this little pass game, Félix Lebrun touches the ball with the edge and concedes the second set of the match.

11:17 – Zhendong solid (8-11 6-10)

Gesture of frustration for Félix Lebrun who seems considerably embarrassed by Fan Zhendong's ability to put everything back on the table.
