Thick smoke was released early in the evening on the site of the Angibaud company, which produces fertilizers, particularly with vine residues. There is no fire on the production site, but just thick smoke resulting from the fermentation of natural products.

The firefighters from the Béziers barracks intervened on the Bédarieux road, at the heart of the Angibaud company, a French manufacturer of organic fertilizers and specialties for crop nutrition that has several production sites in France, including one in Béziers. The firefighters' intervention was caused by smoke coming from an industrial building of approximately 3000m² and which is made up of several alcoves. The smoke coming from one of the buildings is the result of grape seed fermentation.

No risk to the population

“There is no risk of propagation, insisted the site manager on site. There is no danger either for the employees working or for the surrounding population. In two hours everything will be settled and there will be no more smoke.” After a thorough reconnaissance, the firefighters discovered that it: “is a pile of grape seeds of approximately 100 m3 in an alcove, slowly burning and giving off smoke. The building in question is made of metal. It does not present any risk of imminent danger.”

The firefighters will remain on site

Two water hoses have been mobilized by the firefighters. They must stop the fermentation and prevent any spread that is not on the agenda. Personnel have been recalled to empty the alcove that presents a problem. They are moving the products that are not affected by the fire. There is, on site and according to the firefighters, no risk that the fermentation will reach other alcoves. They will remain on site for a while to monitor.

For viticulture

Angibaud designs and develops complete nutrition programs that guarantee efficient and sustainable production, including organic amendments and fertilizers, foliar and soluble nutritional supplements, and biostimulants. To do this, it collects the harvest residues from the Béziers region after the wine fermentation to produce fertilizers locally.
