En poste depuis 2023, Philippe Diallo a été confirmé à la tête de la Fédération française de football à l’issue du vote, dont les résultats ont été dévoilés ce samedi 14 décembre.

The incumbent Philippe Diallo or the challenger Pierre Samsonoff: the French Football Federation has made its choice. The outgoing president, Diallo, was confirmed in his post for a four-year term following the vote, the results of which were revealed this Saturday at noon.

Philippe Diallo received 55.34% of the votes cast, or 20,422 votes, his opponent 44.65%. The voter turnout would be around 40%.

An unprecedented number of voters and the complexity of the election method made the outcome of the latter uncertain. For the first time, nearly 13,000 presidents of amateur clubs affiliated to the Federation voted online on Tuesday and Wednesday to choose between the two candidates, in addition to the presidents of professional clubs, those of the 22 regional leagues and the 91 districts. And the rule of thirds prevailed to determine the winner: 1/3 of the votes count for amateur clubs, 1/3 for the Leagues and districts, 1/3 for L1 and L2 clubs, with coefficients within the three “families”.

Aulas deputy vice-president

Diallo was running for a first “real” four-year term after having served as interim following the withdrawal of Noël Le Graët in January 2023 before being confirmed in this position a few months later. During his campaign, he had highlighted his record. The Federation, the largest in France, has a record 2.4 million members, and will benefit from a record contract of 100 million euros per year with the equipment manufacturer Nike from 2026, and the sporting results of the various French teams are more than decent.

Diallo has affirmed his ambitions with the amateur world by increasing his budget from 100 to 150 million euros per year by 2028, and with women's football, where he would like to see the number of licenses double from 250,000 to 500,000 within five years. This election will allow Jean-Michel Aulas, number 2 on his list, to occupy the position of deputy vice-president of the FFF.
