La décrue a commencé à Redon. MAXPPP – Mathieu Pattier
Alors que la décrue a commencé, Météo France place encore 8 départements en vigilance orange.
For almost a week, many Breton municipalities have been under water due to heavy rainfall and significant flooding, particularly in Ille-et-Vilaine. Although the water level is still particularly high, the situation seems to be gradually calming down.
For the first time since January 27, Météo France has lifted its red alert for floods this Saturday, but still places 8 departments in orange.
These are Eure (27), Oise (60), Sarthe (72), Somme (80), Val-d'Oise (95), Ille-et-Vilaine (35), Loire-Atlantique (44) and Morbihan (56).

The trend is generally towards a decrease in water levels, but significant overflows are still occurring in the north and west. This Saturday, precipitation still affects a part of the south-east without hydrological impact on the watercourses”, notes the site Vigicrues.
While storms Eowyn and Ivo have finally passed over France, their passage has caused a lot of damage. In some municipalities, the water has disappeared, and it is now the municipal employees who are busy clearing and cleaning the streets, as in Guichen, notes France Bleu.
But in Redon, where the water has reached very high levels, many residents are waiting for the water level to recede. “It has gone down by 20 to 30 cm so I will soon be able to go back to my kitchen. I am relieved. The furniture is intact”, a resident told France info, who still cannot return home.
But “an anticyclone is settling over most of the country, for this weekend, favoring the water levels to recede”, reports the site Vigicrues.
“Even if the trend is towards improvement almost everywhere, the levels remain high on the rivers placed on orange alert and the return to non-overflowing conditions should take several days, the dynamics being very slow.”
In the event of flooding, Météo France gives several tips to follow in the event of flooding:
move away from watercourses and bridges, go to a high point or take shelter upstairs; do not take a submerged road, even partially; avoid moving around and keep informed about the weather conditions; monitor rising water levels; do not go down into basements; keep your belongings out of the water and locate my emergency kit.
