A situation under control. The virulent flu epidemic that has spread throughout France, forcing around twenty establishments to trigger the White Plan in response to the influx of patients, has not generated a major peak in attendance at the Thau Basin Hospitals.

But like everywhere else in France, the HBTs are faced with an increase in the number of patients, particularly elderly patients, linked not only to the flu, but also to Covid and viruses affecting the nose, throat and lungs. The days after the end-of-year holidays saw the number of patients increase, at the beginning of January. A “slight peak” was even recorded on the weekend of January 4 and 5. But it was brief and remained under control.

Reinforced emergency reception, 16 additional beds…

Although very far from triggering a White Plan, the Sète establishment remains vigilant. An organization has been put in place until further notice to ensure the care and hospitalization of patients requiring it in the coming days and weeks: strengthening of the emergency reception service, with nursing assistants and nurses, increase in the hospitalization capacity of the services (+ 16 beds) and management of childhood epidemics provided within the pediatrics department.

In addition, all consultations and surgical activities are maintained, whether they are
scheduled or emergency.
