Football: Asfac has a meeting with a Grau from the regional championship

Asfac in search of an exploit on the ground of a team from Gard that is still undefeated. MIDI LIBRE – E.R.

The Muscatiers are playing an update match this Saturday, December 21 at Grau-du-Roi (6 p.m.).

Long-time leader of Group A of Regional 1, the Émulation Sportive du Grau-du-Roi ended up giving up a little ground to Atlas in November.

This decline corresponds, quite logically, to the three points shared during the matches that framed the seventh round of the Coupe de France against AS Cannes. Since its elimination, the Gard team has once again set its sights on the objective: promotion to National 3.

Smiles and cool heads

This is to say that the task of the Muscatiers is looking difficult. A few days before the New Year, the general resolution is to approach it with serenity and desire. The clear victory over the Catalans of Canet-Roussillon brought back smiles but did not panic minds. For Greg Tanagro, this update match, against an undefeated team, is certainly not ideal for confirming the recovery. On the other hand, the “Nothing to lose”and the “Treat yourself” will logically not be part of the pre-match talk.

The coach insists on the fact that his group tends to get on the same level as its opponent. “Against Canet, it's not the best match we've played, but we still won it”. Grau-du-Roi will be on another level. It would be a great Christmas present to bring home a point from a draw.

A 70th anniversary to celebrate with dignity

After going through all the torments that have befallen this team during the first four months of the season, the time for a reaction seems to have come. The club will enter its 70th year of existence, with festivities planned throughout 2025. It would be a shame to see its flagship team fall to R2 as a birthday present.

In the meantime, there may be something to do and it starts this Saturday in the little Camargue!
