Football: In the Gard-Lozère Cup, Grau-du-Roi trembled for six minutes against FC Cabassut

Sunday January 5, no surprises or exploits for FC Cabassut (D1), logically eliminated (1-4) by Grau-du-Roi (R1) in the 32nd finals of the Gard-Lozère Cup.

During the 3rd round of the Coupe de France, they came back (almost) from nowhere against Beaucaire (N3), in the 83rd and 90th minutes (2-2), before giving in… 11 shots on goal to 12! Also, when striker Hoffer put FC Cabassut (D1) ahead (1-0, 13th) against Grau-du-Roi (R1), we could think of a possible exploit by the District residents.

Grau surprised by the opponent's start

In all, the dream only lasted six minutes for Geoffrey Garcia's players, who were attractive during a more than successful start to the match, where they could even have had a two-goal lead. Coming up on a corner, defender Audemard saw his pointer pushed away by goalkeeper Graulen Vera (18th).

The players of the Aigues-Vives/Aubais/Gallargues Agreement had just let their chance slip away. ''We had a very good start to the match and managed to put in place what we wanted to do, Garcia analyzed. Where it's infuriating, essentially, is that we conceded two goals on set pieces.''

Cabassut, culpable absences in marking

On the move, it was already not easy for Cabassut. Graulen midfielder Keita broke through the defense and crossed for Braik, who equalized (1-1, 19th). And, on set pieces, things got even more complicated for the D1 player, who paid dearly for his absences.

Twice and twice, and twice in 6', El Amrani wrapped things up, served, on free kicks, by Abbou (1-2, 30th), then by Braik (1-3, 36th).

At the break, Assoumani's partners had, it seemed, done the hardest part. A trend that was confirmed during a second act where we never really felt the 7th in D1 capable of turning the table. Fifteen minutes from the end, El Mardi made the score even worse (1-4, 77th).

''Overall, we managed well, even if it was complicated at the beginning'', reacted El Amrani, double scorer and passer, teased by his teammates.
