Forget Versailles, an extraordinary experience takes over this famous castle on All Saints' Day

This famous castle French is transformed into a citadel of lights during the holidays All Saints' Day.

We all know about the Grandes Eaux de Versailles which, every year until the end of October, invite you to wander in the open air between the groves and fountains of the iconic château, bathed in water and lights. This year and for the first time, it is in one of the largest castles in France and in the whole of Europe that an extraordinary light experience takes place during our autumn evenings.

Come to the gates of Paris, in the charming town of Vincennes, to discover a spectacular immersive experience, every evening until November 2, 2024. The first edition of “Vincennes, Château de lumieres” is a nighttime event that invites us to wander among immense immersive and interactive works of art, before attending a monumental projection in the courtyard of the Château de Vincennes. 

At nightfall, visitors are invited to walk along a luminous path where 18 monumental works by artists are presented “where each installation tells a story, arouses an emotion, questions our relationship to time and space”, describe the organizers of the event. This 11-stage tour combines light and poetry, with bold contemporary creations such as luminous lotus flowers or inflatable spheres reminiscent of giant soap bubbles.

The tour, in two parts, continues with the screening of a colorful video-mapping of the royal courtyard of the Château de Vincennes, carried by the voice of André Manoukian and the melodies of the musician and sound artist Arnaud Corbellari, evoking the millennial adventure of the castle, from the first stones of the castle's foundation to the present day. This true journey through time resurrects “the echoes of royal footsteps in the Sainte-Chapelle, secrets whispered in the dungeon and battles that shaped the destiny of France”.

To get there, take line 1 of the Paris metro and get off at the “Château de Vincennes" stop, then enter the château grounds via Avenue de Paris. Tours take place from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. every evening until Saturday, November 2, 2024 and the screening in the royal courtyard every 30 minutes between 7 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Count 18 euros for an adult rate, 14 euros for a reduced rate (job seekers, RSA, PMR) and 12 euros for a child or student rate (from 6 to 25 years old).
