Frank Proust, this (future) candidate for the municipal elections “undisputable” according to Michèle Tabarot, president of the Republicans' Investiture Commission

Frank Proust: “Jean-Paul Fournier's legacy deserves that we do not do things in a hurry” Midi Libre – MiKAEL ANISSET

The deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes was present in Nîmes this Thursday, January 30th for the ceremony of presentation of the wishes of the Republicans of Gard.

The wishes of the Republicans, in Nîmes, were this Thursday evening at the Ecuries Hasta Luego. More than ever, these had a particular flavor, that of the municipal elections that are announced at galloping speed, since the anticipated and half-surprise declaration of candidacy of Julien Plantier, on January 23rd.

“Frank [Proust] is the most committed figure on the ground. He is a respected and convinced man, who has the ability to bring people together in this territory […] I cannot imagine that anyone else could be appointed to Nîmes by our investiture committee!”, Michèle Tabarot, member of parliament for the Alpes-Maritimes and president of the party's national investiture committee, had declared earlier in the evening during a press conference at the local LR headquarters.

Building on the legacy

While her party is slowly (but surely?) recovering from its internal turmoil, particularly after the forced departure of its leader, Eric Ciotti (now UDR), Michèle Tabarot warned: “those who would present themselves without having the investiture would then find themselves excluded from our political family!”.

Concerning the investitures precisely, “none have been requested for the moment, fourteen months before the deadline”, said Richard Tiberino, president of the Republicans of Gard.

A department whose capital will very soon be seen as this arena of a knife fight between the various self-proclaimed successors to the legacy of the patriarch, Jean-Paul Fournier.

A legacy “that deserves to be protected, that we must also make it bear fruit and which also deserves that we do not do things in haste”, for the president of the metropolis, Frank Proust who indicated that his decision will be made in due time. “Jean-Paul Fournier having asked us, for the time being, to concentrate on our work, with complete serenity, clarity and transparency”. A word to the wise…
