There was a crowd on the forecourt of the Saint-Roch church. This Thursday, February 6, Catherine Laborde's loved ones, family and friends came to pay their last respects. Around her husband Thomas Stern and her sister Françoise Laborde, there were the two daughters of the former TF1 weather presenter. Many television personalities also made the trip to honor the memory of the woman who died of Lewy body disease at the age of 73.
There was, for example, Evelyne Dhéliat. A close friend of Catherine Laborde, she was devastated by her death. She was then attending the New Year's greetings ceremony of the Minister of Ecology Agnès Pannier-Runacher. “I came home quickly quickly, she had revealed to Paris Match. We saw each other, we had lunch together, with her husband Thomas. But with this illness, there are ups and downs. There are times when we called each other and others when we spoke more by text message. Then it became more complicated…” The two had kept contact after Catherine Laborde's retirement.
“I knew it wasn't going very well, but I still didn't expect it to happen so quickly. It was a shock”, she continued. Evelyne Dhéliat has also been a major support for Françoise Laborde, devastated at her sister's funeral. Just like François Bayrou. A childhood friend of the former weatherwoman, the Prime Minister had made the trip. “Catherine Laborde was my friend, my teenage girlfriend”, he revealed.
“We were together in hypokhâgne at the Montaigne high school in Bordeaux and at the conservatory in André Limoges' class. She was grace and life, fragility and enthusiasm, we never separated”, he reacted after the announcement of his death. At the church, there were also Claire Chazal and Gilles Bouleau with his wife, two figures from TF1. Helped by a crutch, Guy Carlier also came to pay tribute to Catherine Laborde. But also Véronique Genest accompanied by her husband and Sébastien Folin or Pascal Praud and Jean-Luc Reichmann.
It must be said that the TF1 host and the former weatherwoman shared a very intimate bond. After her death, Jean-Luc Reichmann had trouble holding back his tears on the set of Le Figaro. “Catherine was a sun and now she is on a little cloud, confided the host of 12 coups de midi. I remember her fragility, her sweetness, her élegance and her incredible generosity. She is a sweetie.”
“It was my children who gave her her wedding rings at the town hall on her wedding day, he remembered émoved. I keep this magnificent image in my head. Her disappearance is overwhelming for me but I think that it must have been a liberation for her… She will remain in my memory and in my heart.” In her heart as in that of thousands of television viewers who followed her career on screen.
