Her sister, Françoise Laborde, told Parisien about the former TF1 weather presenter's final months. “We [Françoise and Geneviève, their other sister editor's note] spent time with her. We said stupid things, we laughed. It's a habit of the Laborde sisters to giggle stupidly in slightly sad moments. Catherine Laborde's funeral: this firm instruction from the family

And the family has given a single instruction for the funeral. As a reminder, Catherine Laborde died from the consequences of her Lewy body disease. “No flowers or wreaths.” specifies the family, who wants to receive instead donations the association of caregivers and Lewy body patients. This disease made the life of the presenter complicated. “&At the end, she was in her bed all the time, she didn't get up much anymore. She had lost a lot of weight, she was really a little bird.” confides her sister, Françoise Laborde.

In the final moments, the beloved TF1 presenter was able to count on her family, a true pillar for her. “There were her two daughters, Gabrielle and Pia, with their dad Jimmy. Her husband Thomas (Stern) was there too. She wanted to die peacefullyat home, in her house on the island of Yeu. We respected her wishes.

The presenter confided in her illness

Catherine Laborde suffered from the disease Lewy body, a type of dementia that resembles Alzheimer's or Parkinson's. “I just spoke to you, I don't remember what I said half an hour earlier. (…) I never know who is in the room, who is leaving, who is coming back. At the same time yes I recognize them and no I don't recognize them.” she confided on TF1 in 2020.

Catherine Laborde had several problems such as loss of balance or of loss of references. “I no longer know, when I'm in the dark, if I'm up or down. I don't really know where I am and who I am. It's a state of mind that accentuates the fear. (…) It's the illness that will win, I think, at one point or another. Too bad, I would have liked it to last a while longer. But I know that there is a time when it must stop.”
