A final farewell Friday, January 10, 2025, Jean-Luc Petitrenaud, famous food critic, columnist and host, died at the age of 74. The same day, on Europe 1, Laurent Mariotte paid tribute to his memory. “The table is much more than food, it's everything around it. That's what he talks about, it's happiness, family, friends, arguments, conversations, debates, and then joy! Good bottles!”, he confided.
Émoved, he added: “It's true that Jean-Luc, he had a love of Saint Cères, a love of Loire wines and it's true that he loved this beautiful effervescence and this communion that the table provoked”. The day after his death, in La table des bons vivants on Europe 1, Laurent Cabrol had indicated as to him: “He had in his life, in all and for all, two people: Louise and Antonin, his two children who were for him, the rest of his existence, and that's what he was fighting for”.
On social networks, Hélène Darroze had written: “Have a good trip, dear Jean-Luc. (…) You were one of the first to come and see me in the Landes when I was still working at my dad's, then you encouraged and supported me when I arrived in Paris… Like many, I owe you a lot. Thank you, thank you very sincerely“.
On Friday, January 17, 2025, Pierre Arditi, declared his turn in the Culture Media show, on Europe 1: “I loved this guy. He also didn't look like anyone else. Besides, no one took his place. He talked about it like no one else has managed to talk about it”.
The The funeral of the famous food critic took place at the Saint-Pierre-du-Gros-Caillou church in Paris. For the occasion, many personalities had made the trip, such as Laurent Mariotte, Yves Camdeborde, Christian Constant, Jean-François Piège, Pierre Bonte, Valérie Expert, Laurent Cabrol, Nicolas Canteloup, Philippe Lavil, Véronique de Villèle, and Denis Brogniart.
