Google is rolling out its Gemini AI across its ecosystem. And among the apps that benefit from this Gemini integration is Gmail. In June, Google announced the arrival of a sidebar that provides quick access to its generative AI on its Workspace productivity suite, including Gmail. On Gmail, this sidebar provides summaries of long exchanges, writing assistance, and provides answers based on information available in the user's document. But this series of new features is reserved for people who use a paid account.
On the other hand, Google would also be planning a new feature based on Gemini for users of the free version of Gmail, according to the site Android Police. The latter relays a discovery published by users of the social network X. In essence, on the mobile application, Google would place a new star-shaped button (the Gemini icon) at the top of the screen, next to the search bar. And when you press it, Gmail opens an interface that allows you to communicate with Gemini. It would be possible to use this Gemini interface to ask the AI to find specific emails. The results of this search are then displayed on the Gmail application, and not on the Gemini interface.
In essence, the idea is to allow the user to find the emails they are looking for by using natural language queries, instead of keywords. But for now, it seems that this is still a test. In fact, it would be a small deployment that is being done on the servers and that would concern users of the beta version of Gmail for Android. For now, we do not know when this new feature will be available to everyone. But it should be remembered that in the meantime, it is already possible to use Gemini and Gmail together, by installing an extension on the site gemini.google.com.

On the other hand, Google has the possibility of integrating Gemini into its various products, which allows its AI to offer useful features to the user. Recently, Google announced the integration of Gemini with its Google Home platform. Thanks to generative artificial intelligence, it will be possible to find elements of the camera history with queries such as “did the postman come by ?” or “did the dog get near the cookies ?”. The user will also be able to send more complex queries to control their connected home.
